Kelsey & Derrick: Oahu, Hawaii {Real Wedding}

Meet Kelsey Jones and Derrick Link, married on January 19th! These two lovebirds met in Washington, and although they had a very, very tight budget for their wedding we are pleased to note that what their cozy celebration lacked in frills it more than made up for in shared joy with friends and family!

We love the brides classically cut gown and glowing smile that jumps out of every image shot by Modern Weddings Hawaii talented vendor Creatrix Photography . The jaunty yellow dresses of her bridesmaid perfectly complements her and the breath-taking scenery of Makapu’u! All in all it looks like a perfect day for our lovely couple.

Madisyn & Stanley: Kailua-Kona, Hawaii {Real Wedding}

We are head over heels in love with this statement wedding (photographed by Karen Loudon Photography)- nearly as much as our lovely bride and groom Madisyn and Stanley! Married on the 7th of December at the Ohana Retreat on the Kona Plantation, bride Madisyn revealed that she wanted a graphic and modern theme for her big day. A fun, chic and colorful design that would be intimate and romantic enough for the two to enjoy with their closest friends and family. And maybe even unexpected guests? Our bride shared her funniest story from the event:

“At the very end of the night our wedding party decided to all jump into the pool. We had a “wedding crasher” show up all the way from Alaska who decided he wanted to join in the fun. As all of the bridesmaids and groomsmen were lining up, getting ready to jump, our wedding crasher stripped naked, in front of all our guest *including the grandmas* and jumped in!”

We also love the secret behind her big day- most elements of her wedding were DIY! Madisyn shared that save for an amazing lighting system, nearly every other factor was sourced, selected or made by her and her girls! Though it was a long and overwhelming process, the bride is happy to say that everything turned out amazing.

Sheila & Syed :: Maui, Hawaii {Real Wedding}

Eloping in Hawaii is many couples dream! Forgoing the big wedding and hop a plane to paradise with your love and have a romantic weekend. This couple did just that and couldn’t be more happy! These fantastic photos are by Wendy Laurel Photography.

Syed and I wanted a destination wedding because we really wanted to stay away from planning and having a big wedding. We wanted something very intimate, informal, and relaxed. Living in Pennsylvania, we look for any excuse to plan a beach vacation. We decided on getting married in Maui because this particular island seemed to offer exactly what we wanted…beautiful beaches; quite, small towns; great sunrises and sunsets. We were very happy with how our wedding day went. It stopped raining for that day and Makena Cove was completely empty except for us…making it perfectly intimate and relaxed.

Flora & Derrick :: Big Island, Hawaii {Real Wedding}

Flora and Derrick’s Big Island wedding is adorable! From their lego theme to the bridesmaids dresses everything is too cute for words! This couple wanted something different, and a destination wedding fit the bill perfectly. 

We wanted to have our wedding in Hawaii because planning a group adventure with our friends and family sounded a lot more fun than planning a traditional wedding. We ended up throwing a lovely bash with tones of drinks and great music for our favorite people, and still got to spend lots of quality time with everyone before and after the wedding. It was the best party of our lives and as much as we dreaded planning it, we loved every minute of our wedding day!

Elyse & Cody :: Maui, Hawaii {Real Hawaii Wedding}

Elyse and Cody live an exciting and fast paced lifestyle, these two travel the globe in search of the best snow this planet has to offer as professional skiers! Deciding on a destination wedding, Maui was their island of choice. This fun and exciting couple and their closest snow junkie friends and family partied well into the morning hours. We absolutely adore the simplicity in this wedding, especially the fashion.
