Rain Plan :: {Wedding Resource}

Having a gorgeous Hawaii wedding is all about the outdoors and the incredible views! But what do you do if it happens to be one of the many rainy days that we have here in the islands? Having a rain plan or plan B on your wedding day is crucial in the planning process, so here are a few tips on how to prepare for a rain day.

Venue: When looking at venues a good idea is to see if they have an indoor option. Even if you don’t plan on using it, its always good to have a back up option that you don’t have to go far to go through with if a shower decides to come though.

Outdoor Tents: If your have your heart set on an outdoor wedding look into tent rentals in the area and price them out (an include them in your budget just in case). Remember to ask about last minute fees incase you book it the day of!

Check the Weather: It may be simple, but check out the weather for your day! Most websites and meteorologist are pretty accurate now days and while getting caught up planning all the other details of your wedding you might forget to check.

Photographer: Talk with your photographer or videographer and make sure they are prepared if it rains that day! Maybe even strategize great rain photos if theres a good chance it will rain!

Dress and Hair & Makeup: If you are venturing out in the rain that day make sure you have a large golf like umbrella to protect you and a lot of helping hands to hold your dress. The last thing you want to fall or dip your dress in a muddy puddle… the trash the dress shoot is supposed to be later! For your make up go for extra long lasting products, primer, setting spray and of course waterproof everything!

Finally if it does rain on your wedding day don’t fret! Turn it in to a fun and unique photo shoot and have fun with it! Grab an umbrella, some cute rain boots and go to town with those photos, it will be a great story to tell and something you will definitely remember!

Sunrise & Sunset Calculator {Hawaii Wedding Resource}

When having an outdoor wedding in Hawaii it is important to time things just right. Whether you want the sun shining down on you, or don’t want it glaring in your guests faces during the ceremony – or best of all if you want a stunning sunset as a backdrop, you’ll need to schedule things accordingly.

“As the sun makes its journey North of West in the winter & South of West in the summer (due to Earth’s tilt), the view of sunset at any particular beach changes daily. As viewed from shore, the sun sets a little farther to the right every day until the end of June, then a little farther to the left until end of December. Most beaches in Areas 4 & 5 (closest to Waikiki) face South so the sun in the summer will go down to the right as you face the ocean. This means that the winter months offer the best opportunity to view the sun setting over water from some of these beaches, not all. During the summer, you’ll need to get to a beach facing West (Areas 6 & 7) to be sure to see the sun setting over water.” via
