Beach Destination Wedding : 5 Items You Must Have

Planning a wedding can be a stressful experience. Especially, if you want to do a destination wedding in an area you are not familiar with.  If you are considering having a beach destination wedding, here is a list of a few must have’s for you ceremony and reception.

Shoe Stand

Shoe Holder

If you plan on having part of your big day on the beach, make sure to designate an area for you guest to leave their shoes. If you do not have a shoe stand, your guest will be forced to leave their pricey footwear in the sand. The last thing you want at your wedding is everyone in an uproar, trying to locate their missing shoes. Want to go the extra mile? Buy flip flops as wedding favors.  Give each guest a pair as they drop their shoes off at the, “Shoe Valet”.

Parasols

Parasols for wedding guest

The Hawaiian sun can be brutal to your fair skinned friends. You can’t spend your wedding day asking your guest if they are wearing sunscreen, but you can provide them with parasols. Not only will they prevent your guests from getting sun burned, parasols also look great in photos.

Fans

Fans for a wedding

With no air conditioning or other fan options, hand held fans make a great cooling alternative. You could also give out fans as a great wedding favor to your guests.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are another practical wedding favor you can give to your guests. You can color coordinate your sunglasses for some great photos. You can also personalize the sunglasses with the name of the bride and groom inscribed on the frame.

Beach Blankets

As the sun sets, the temperature usually drops a significant amount. Most of your guest are probably dressed for the warm day, and might not plan for a cool, breezy night. Make sure to keep your guest comfortable by providing beach blankets.

Shannon and Tyler were married on the Hawaiian Island Maui. This island was a second home to Shannon growing up. She always wanted a small destination wedding. Shannon was able to have a her dream Hawaiian wedding. Close family and friends joined Shannon and Tyler to celebrate their nuptials. They held the ceremony at Wailea Golf Course.

Gideon Photography was there to capture the gorgeous wedding. Walking distance away from the golf course was the stunning beach. This is where the couple had most of their photos taken. We love the photo of the couple sitting in a tree (k-i-s-s-i-n-g). If you have not considered having a destination wedding, this couple shows perfect examples of why you should. From the breathtaking location, to intimate affair, this wedding fabulous. Congratulations Shannon and Tyler!

Paper Flowers

Do It Yourself

This great do it yourself shows you how to make paper flowers for your wedding. You can incorporate paper flowers in many different ways for you reception or ceremony. If you have an outdoor wedding you could hang them from tree to tree. Also keep in mind to color coordinate your flowers with your color theme. To break away from the solid color examples above, try mixing colors or incorporating funky patterns.

Step 1 { Cut the Peddles }

The best way to complete this step to get consistently perfect flowers make sure to make a range of pedals templates.

Step 2 { Glue Everything Together }

The easiest way to complete this step, is by using a glue gun. Glue all of the pedal bases together. The more you cross the base section of the leaf, the more volume your flower will have. Make sure to keep the smaller, center pedals nice and tight to avoid any gaps.

Step 3 { Getting Down to the Base }

In this step you need to plan out the order of the leaves. Make sure the base isn’t too big; otherwise you will see it when your flowers are completed.

Wedding Cocktails { Modern Weddings }

 Signature wedding cocktails are always a great idea for any reception. Especially, if you plan on having a cocktail hour. In this post we highlight different cocktail drinks that would be perfect to serve at any summertime wedding.

 Wedding Cocktails:

Wedding Cocktail

Blue Lowcountry Lemonade

This drink is a mix of lemonade, peach schnapps, and blue curacao. It is the perfect drink for a summertime, or even destination wedding. To complete the drink you can add sugar around the rim, and blue bows around the straws.

Wedding Cocktails

Lime Sorbet Margaritas

This drink puts a modern twist on a classic cocktail. Instead of worrying about blending enough ice for your drinks, just mix tequila with lime sorbet. Garnish this drink with a lime, and add sugar around the rim. Your guest will be thanking you for serving such a great drink!

Mojito

Rhubarb Mojito

A nice, cold glass of a mojito is the perfect summer drink. This receipt puts twist on a mojito by adding rhubarb syrup to white rum, mint leaves, and lime. This would be a great drink to have at your wedding, especially if light pink is in your color theme.

Wedding Cocktail

Elderflower Champagne Cocktail

Everyone serves Champagne at their wedding, why not put a twist on this celebratory drink? To make this drink, fill a tumbler with ice, then mix with it three quarters of champagne. Make sure to add thinly sliced cucumbers and mint leaves.  To finish off this wedding cocktail add a splash of St. Germain.

One thing to keep in mind is to serving an alternative drink if you choose to have a signature cocktail. This way your non-drinking guests will have an equally as appealing drink to enjoy at your reception.

Best Wedding Round Up { Aloha Friday }

Best Wedding

It’s Friday, which means its time for our weekly round up of the best wedding posts online.  The first posts we wanted to share with you is a destination wedding in the Bahamas. This elegant wedding is great inspiration for any bride that plans on having an outdoor wedding. Check out photos via Style Me Pretty.

This wedding stood out to us because of all the fun this couple had on their wedding day. The bride even did a few DIY projects to add personal touches to the reception. With bright red colors, personalized “One Love” signs, and a couple that dances through out their photo shoot, this one wedding you should not miss out on via Grey Likes Wedding.

Color combinations are always a key part of any wedding reception. In this style shoot they make great use of the complementary colors orange and blue. Theses photos could serve as great inspiration for reception table arrangements, or even a Bridal Shower via 100 Laycake.

If you missed our post on Wednesday, you have to take a look at our Real Wedding with Joann & Cory. This wedding was on the Hawaiian Island of Maui, and was decorated perfectly with the breathtaking landscape. Take a look at Joann & Cory  { Real Hawaiian Wedding }.

This wedding serves as great inspiration for any bride that wants to use an orange and pink color scheme. Everywhere from the invitations to the drinks served (pink lemonade with orange slices) the bride was able to incorporate her color scheme.  Take a look at this wedding via Wedding Chicks.
