Guest Blogger: Florist Tamara Rigney on Succulents

Succulents are a fun way to add a modern touch to your wedding flowers.  These beautiful rosettes are actually living plants- described as succulents because their leaves are fleshy with stored water.  When using them in floral arrangements your florist will clean and wire them so they have a “stem” like a regular flower.  The leaves of succulents are very fragile despite their sturdy appearance but when properly wired succulents can be used in most any floral design.

These great little plants are available year round so they can be a godsend if your wedding is at a time of year when many flowers are scarce.  Try adding a few to a soft white bouquet for a bold accent or use them individually as part of a tablescape.  When paired with soft romantic flowers succulents make a strong focal point and when grouped with tropicals they create amazing texture and interest.  It is hard to go wrong with succulents!
