A Playground in Paradise:
Did you know the film “South Pacific” was filmed on the Northern shore of Kauai?! With its peaceful beauty, no WONDER it was appealing to producers! Here I found Hanalei Town, boasting green taro fields, shops, restaurants and some of Kauai’s best beaches – a true delight all around! Feeling adventurous?? Historic Kilauea Lighthouse, a wildlife refuge and whale watching site, WHEW, how amazing! Hike the lush Napali Coast to some cascading waterfalls, and you’ll never want to leave :) They offer air tours of its dramatic cliffs- Majestic! We stayed in the upscale resort area of Princeville where hospitality was nothing short of luxury. To sum it up: we explored nature’s wonders by day / relaxed in style at night. Simply glamorous!

Where Magic Lives:
Romance, adventure, and most of all, FUN… Eastside Kauai has it all!! It definitely was the most populated area of the island but by no means overwhelming! We kayaked down Hawaii’s ONLY accessible river, Wailua River, paddling to the bottoms of waterfalls, and hiked the scenic trails in the Nounou Mountain Range. Hidden in the middle of untouched nature, lies the Fern Grotto~ accessible only by a short boat trip! BEAUTIFUL. ROMANTIC. Naturally it’s the choice for hundreds of weddings every year! If you looking for some island shopping, DO NOT MISS Kapaa Town! I had to be pulled onto that plane… otherwise, I never would’ve left!

A Little Bit of Everything:
When it comes to modern & vintage Hawaii, South Kauai is simply the best of the best! The family-friendly resort town of Poipu is known for having the best shopping, dining, and golf opportunities on the island and it certainly does not disappoint! We played on the beautiful beaches and even saw humpback whales, sea turtles and monk seals!
Just up the road, is Old Town Koloa. We enjoyed a much slower pace. This charming plantation town is FILLED with old-fashioned specialty stores and historical sites. Like I said before, BEST of the BEST!!

Bitten by the Hiking Bug:
The West Coast is overflowing with charisma and charm! Together we were able to explore to our little hearts’ content- but honestly… who could ever have enough?!? Waimea Canyon- or “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific” provided INSANE views! We stretched our legs along some of the 45 miles of hiking trails at Kokee State Park before taking in some fascinating history in Waimea Town, the place where Kauai was first discovered! My favorite part of the trip was strolling hand-in-hand through the quaint galleries and shops in Hanapepe Town. It’s amazing how liberating it can be to have no agenda and just enjoy simply being together!
