I founded Modern Weddings Hawaii to showcase the most gorgeous weddings in Hawaii and provide brides with the best vendors, resources, inspiration and advice… straight from the shores of Hawaii. I have been a professional wedding planner & event stylist for over a decade and know the vendors, venues & islands personally. So, I started this blog as a guide for anyone getting married in Hawaii or anyone who is inspired by it. I opened my own firm, Moana Events seven years ago after moving back from New York City and since then have planned celebrity weddings & events, written for numerous publications & taught seminars on event styling & wedding planning. I am the fourth generation of my family to be born and raised in Hawaii and have a deep love and appreciation for the culture & style of this tropical paradise. Welcome to MWH! I began working with Morgan in 2009 as an intern for Moana Events while in Graduate School focusing on communication, graphic design & color theory. Working my way into an Event Coordinator role, my love for the islands, Hawaiian culture and weddings blossomed (let’s be honest… it became a practical obsession!). After battling stereotypical views of Hawaiian weddings and cheesy luau themes, Morgan approached me with the vision of communicating exactly how breathtaking a modern Hawaii wedding can actually be, and how to achieve it. So began Modern Weddings Hawaii. Combining my love for the islands, design and weddings, this journey has been a dream come true! Being submerged in this amazing culture, I know that there is no better place in the world to start a new life together as husband & wife.
