Hawaii weddings

infinity heart

We love Alyson & Emmett’s totally unique Hawaii wedding photographed by One Wedding Photography; the bride and groom wanted something modern and fresh so they got married in a shallow pool! Alyson & Emmett stood on plexiglass blocks and chairs were placed in the pool for guests. Alyson’s ‘something borrowed’ were her mother’s waterproof Croc heels and she wore them during the ceremony. Since one got wet, this lucky bride got to wear two stunning dresses on her wedding day! To signify their union this couple had a sand ceremony. Emmett poured sand from California (where he is from) and Alyson from Hawaii, and then the pastor added sand from Israel that Emmett’s sister gathered during a mission trip to signify a Christian union.

Alyson & Emmett met in college where they worked together setting up computers and projectors for the campus. While vacationing in Hawaii they went to Kailua to watch the sunrise and Emmett gave Alyson a scrapbook filled with reminders of all of their favorite moments. On the last page it said “Will You Marry Me?” He then took out a ring box. So romantic!

At the wedding, Alyson’s bouquet ribbon included pictures of family members that were present in spirit, and in accordance with Japanese tradition, 1001 paper cranes were folded for good luck and placed in the design of the two hearts making an infinity symbol. This was significant because Emmett had given Alyson a promise ring with this very design!

Centerpieces at the reception were cherry blossom branches with golden lights in each blossom and Allison surprised everyone with a hula dance and wedding favors included Mickey Mouse shaped cookies since the couple will be honeymooning there.

Congrats again to Alyson & Emmet and thanks for submitting your beautiful Hawaii wedding!

Rieko - I am getting married this December, needless to say I have been looking at ALOT of wedding sites, photos, videos, and magazines. Alyson & Emmett’s 1st thumbnail picture immediately caught my eye! “Is that a Pool?!?” I love love LOVE that the ceremony was “on water”. Cool shot of the ceremony from above! Looking at the beautiful photos, there were so many careful and meaningful details that I would love to incorporate into my own wedding as well. You can tell how important famiy is with the photos they used on the bouquet and of their own parents wedding photos. So sweet. I love all of their “kissing” poses, my favorite is the one with the fireworks. So romantic! Without even reading the bio on them, I loved their wedding and after reading their love story, I loved it even more. What an amazing couple & wedding. As a bride to be, looking at their photos made me feel happy and inspired! Congratulations & Mahalo to Alyson & Emmett for sharing their special day and Thank you to Modern Weddings Hawaii for sharing REAL Hawaii Weddings. Now I must dutifully finish my own 1001 cranes!

AJ - Out of all the weddings on this site in all their different styles, this one is my favourite.

I love the way they made this wedding unique and personal. The way he proposed was so cute :D but then the ceremony venue of a shallow swimming pool was a brilliant idea!! So ingenious and clever – they were walking on water! :)

Another thing I really liked was the way they brought their family into it. The photo where they hold up pictures of their parents’ weddings is a really cool idea – showing the uniqueness of all three and the way the parents’ ones influenced the present wedding.

And finally I really loved the sand ceremony. Showing that they honor and give recognition to God for their relationship was such a good thing to see.

Congratulations to Alyson and Emmett and thanks Modern Weddings Hawaii for sharing the story and pictures of this wedding. :D
