Real Weddings: Sokchea & Luke

 

 

Congratulations to Sorchea & Luke on their beautiful and natural wedding, photographed by Kevin Foley. The wedding was held on the family’s land and this environmentally conscious couple wanted their wedding to be as eco-friendly as possible. They decorated the table with natural elements like banana leaf place mats, river rocks, and bear grass and sand centerpieces. Even the arbor that they got married under was constructed by the groom’s brother from green bamboo growing on their property. Everything was recyclable including the bamboo plates and glassware.

After the ceremony they planted a tree on the property to symbolize their new beginning and how they will grow together.

This couple has a truly inspiring story. The groom is a canoe paddler and not even a year before their engagement Luke suffered severe injuries while paddling between the islands. He had a miraculous recovery and this amazing couple realized how much they loved each other during his healing process.  Once he recovered they were ready to marry, and in commemoration they decided to use a paddle as a guestbook. Theirs is a truly touching story! Congrats again to Sokchea & Luke on their beautiful Hawaiian wedding!
